TRYOUTS & PHYSICALS

Parents and athletes, students should have attended a meeting on Friday morning concerning a few fundraisers and (most importantly) physicals for the upcoming season. Students that do not have a physical done will not be able to tryout or compete with the team - this only applies to those that do not already have one on file for this school year

 

Physicals will be at Highland-Schumpert on Saturday, 10/7 beginning at 830am. I will be out of town, so students will need to make their own arrangements to have this free physical completed and bring the form back to me after fall break. I know it is not ideal, but I have previous engagements that can not be cancelled. 

 

Details on tryouts were included on the letter that went home last week. If students have lost their letter or did not get one, they need to come see me in B160 asap.

Absence Policy

Only absences excused by the school will be excused by the team. 

Missing one unexcused practice means the athlete will not start in the first half. 

Missing two unexcused practices means the athlete will not play during the week, but will still be expected to attend. 

Missing three or more unexcused practices will warrant further action, up to dismissal from team.

Announcements

  • Pre-season conditioning for the 2017-18 soccer season focusing on strength and stamina will begin late August/early September. These workouts are not mandatory but will be incredibly beneficial to potential players that wish to try out for the team in October. They will happen twice/weekly in September and three times each week in October leading up to tryouts. 
  • Please be listening to announcement for more information; a letter with full details will be available for pick-up outside of my room (B160) in late August. 
  • Fundraising will begin when pre-season conditioning does. Boys' soccer will need to raise significant funds before the season begins to acquire training equipment and jerseys in time for the full season. While interested soccer players may not participate in the workouts if they are currently taking part in another sport (Football/Cross-Country), they will be expected to be aware of and stay involved in fundraising efforts. More information on these efforts will be included in the letter mentioned above. See everyone soon!
