Lieutenant Colonel Dave Hadden has been chosen for a prestigious award; the Louisiana American Legion Educator of the Year. Fourth District Scholarship and Education Chairman Lt. Col. George Finck nominated Hadden, who is the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at Parkway High School. Hadden was nominated by Finck “for giving on a consistent basis so much of himself to the children of his community.”
The nomination went on to say “he clearly is an unsung hero who builds on our nation’s future by diligently working with the youth of today.”

JROTC Awarded Distinguished Unit Award
The Air Force’s JROTC national program Headquarters in Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama is proud to announce that Parkway High School’s Louisiana 071st JROTC has been awarded the Distinguished Unit Award. This is the highest award that can be bestowed on a JROTC unit and it marks 5 years in a row for the unit to receive Air Force honors. Eight Hundred and Sixty-Nine schools compete annually for this distinction and only a few receive it. This year’s unit was recognized for placing 5th in the National AFA Cyber Patriot competition, volunteering to participate in 79 local events encompassing nearly 4,000 hours of community service, and committing itself to academic excellence. Parkway’s JROTC program is the largest program in North Louisiana. It is the only program of over 3,400 ROTC programs across the Department of Defense where all 9th and 10th grade courses are core courses and all 11th and 12th grade courses earn dual college credit.

Panther Prep Registration
Dear Parents and Members of the Class of 2018:
This year Parkway High School will be offering the “Parkway Panther Prep” as a freshman transition experience. We are offering this opportunity for all incoming freshmen. We believe that it is unquestioned that any freshman participant will have a head start as they enter Parkway High School. Our research indicates that participants in these types of programs have earned higher grade point averages, been more likely to be involved in extracurricular opportunities, and have fewer disciplinary situations than those who have not participated. There is no doubt that the experience will be informative and fun. I urge all incoming freshmen to attend our “Parkway Panther Prep 2014.”
What is it? Panther Prep 2014 is the first step in your orientation to Parkway High School. It is a half-day orientation for incoming ninth graders that is led by a staff of Parkway High School Students and Teachers.
What will be accomplished? Receive your schedule and have a chance to find your classes, learn how to get around the Parkway High School building, learn about important issues from upper class students, meet and hear from several teachers and administrators, be made aware of the many activities available at Parkway High School, and make new friends
